I FINISHED EIKOKU TANTEI MYSTERIA 100% 888888888888888888888888888888888888888!!!
While the truth end didn’t explain everything perfectly, it finally gives us an indication of what really happened to Emily’s parents. In some ways I think it just brought up more questions and the end was rather open in a way so could this be a sign of more to come in the Eikoku Mysteria saga? Who knows.
If you’ve some idea of the storyline of Mysteria, Emily is shown to be constantly chasing after why her parents died the way and night they did. We know by now that there’s some link between Moriarty’s association Spellbound to her parent’s deaths and so truth end shows everything else.
Like the friend end, Emily borrows the skills and strengths of her friends in order to find out the truth end ultimately ends up with no one, although imo there are some strong hints here at some Herlock ey ey ey ey???? I quite liked the fact that Jack gets some kind of a role here along with Lupan since they really never appear otherwise. And like those ends too, this one is fairly short, being one chapter only.
Just a reminder, since in the English name for Lupin (student) and Lupin (phantom thief) are distinguished by the katakana used in the ‘pin’ part, I’ll use that to show the difference between who I’m referring to. Emily’s friend is Lupin and phantom thief is Lupan.
I left the Lupin last, he who everyone playing Mysteria on my twitter was fangirling over. Oh man, even though ultimately I didn’t like him more than Jack, I swear the writers probably had a huge thing for Lupan.
While everyone else’s route was pretty tame with the plot then confession and kiss……..Lupan’s was more like kiss, plot, CERO FUKING D MOMENT, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, plot, kiss, DESPAIR, kiss, confession and kiss. Watdafuq Karin, give Jack some more lovin’. I’m not as disappointed as I probably sound but I can totally understand why everyone was dying inside from playing this route too ww. I do believe that most people who will play this game will probably love Lupan the most too.
Lupin is the really timid classmate/friend of Emily with an oyabaka father. He constantly trips/falls/almost loses things and pretty much elicits pity from everyone. So of course no one thinks that this LUPIN could possibly be the phantom thief Lupan. Lupan Jr is a courageous phantom thief who’s driving both Scotland Yard and Herlock into a frenzy to catch him, because no matter what they do, he always gets away. Also, like Herlock, he’s a master cosplayer. So pretty much Lupin and Lupan are polar opposites.
And I’m back.
Sasuga Main Character-kun, Holmes has a pretty long route, or I just played extremely slowly…………….well that was a kick to the balls.
Anyways, Herlock Holmes (NO SPELLING ERROR THERE IM SRS) is Holmes Jr., or more famous as Sherlock Holmes son. He follows in his father’s footsteps and is aspiring to be a detective through studying at Harlington. Like Emily he has the ring signifying him as the Queen’s detective, but he refuses to acknowledge Emily’s skills as a Detective. This causes Emily to strive to become a detective who even Holmes has to praise! Like many depictions of Sherlock Holmes in other media, Herlock is also very cold and realistic, and often says things without sugarcoating.
I actually finished Holmes route too but I don’t wanna forget what happens in the Friend end and Marple end so I’ll write about these first ww.
Sara Marple is Emily’s like, only female friend www. She was also raised in the countryside like Emily, so Emily feels like they’re two peas in a pod. Marple is pretty wry and witty and takes care of Emily like a pet. She’s also seen drinking black tea very often.
The friend end was actually pretty entertaining because it was sorta like a 3P end with Watson and Holmes =͟͟͞͞( `◟ 、). It wasn’t overly long either and had an overall feeling like…idk Shinrei Tantei Yakumo, there’s a fuckload of sexual innuendo but no one really ends up together. Oh also, Jack appears pretty often in it ◝( ‾▿◝ )◟
It was pretty long compared to Marple end tho, who was only one short chapter. Marple end isn’t really a yuri end per se, but more of a, u dont need no man 2 make u happy, kinda end www. Instead of going off getting close to random dudes, Marple is always there by Emily’s side and helping her along. She’s a true friend
although she thinks of Emily as a cute little puppy.
I finally did it. I finished another char ahaha. Let’s just say, playing someone as boring as Akechi Kenichirou after someone as moe as Jack is probably one of the worst otome game decisions I’ve made lmao. So in advance I’m gonna warn people who love kuudere chars like myself, don’t touch Jack until the end www.
Also I think I’ll probably be super biased in judging Akechi cuz the guide I used failed me and I ended up pursuing the ends in the wrong frikin order. Akechi’s route alloww for a good and sad end, as well as a sorta half assed end for Emily to ‘pursue’ Kobayashi Seiji. I’m using that term pretty lightly because it was rather disappointing the way that ended and there was no real romance. Because I accidentally pursued Kobayashi first when aiming for Akechi bad end, my image of all the chars fell to shambles. This would be a combination of my own disappointment + their character in Kobayashi’s route, and well, once a char falls down my list, they seldom get back up.
Akechi and Kobayashi are both transfer students to Harlington from the land of Nippon to England and the easiest way to describe them would be ‘a Japanese Holmes and Watson’. Akechi is a tsundere katana wielding budding detective with a lot of pride on his honesty/beliefs. Kobayashi is his younger genki sling shot wielding helper who’s more often than not, more rational than Akechi.
Omfg I JUST finished Jack’s good end, following his 2 other ends and I needed a way to unload my feels.
As I’m sure I made it clear earlier, I came into his game for Jack and BOY WAS I IN FOR A RIDE ヾ( ﾉｼ｡ÒㅅÓ)ﾉｼ Jack is the most moe character since I don’t even remember omfg. OFF THE FUCKING CHARTS MOE. 萌ぇ萌ぇ・・(*’д`*)ﾊｧﾊｧ・・ I have a massive thing for these sorts of chars so pls, don’t hate.
I had no idea before but it seems like you get tiny little scenes from Watson or Holmes depending on whether you choose to up their affection, and by tiny they’re literally like 3 different lines of text lmao. My sheer anticipation for Jack rly overshadowed everyone else like 1000000% although I heard Lupin Jr. is also a moe target??? Not too interested in him right now though.
SO JACK. Jack Millers is the local kuudere classmate who everyone avoids because of his poor upbringing in the East End (aka. the slums). So far Emily is the only one who treats him like a normal human being, and being the awkward person he is, he’s usually really crude and mean. In the common route, Emily warms up to him and starts exchanging letters with him cuz he obviously sucks at speaking. However, Jack has a secret life as a killer <— hey this isn’t a spoiler cuz they actually name him as Jack the Ripper on the site lmao. This is all one massive ruse though, goddamn.
Let’s see…because my TL was full of Eikoku Tantei Mysteria tweets I conceded and picked it up too. Admittedly my interest in the game lies solely in Jack the fuking ripper (omg ;_;) IMAGINE THE PAIN WHEN I REALISED HE CAN ONLY BE UNLOCKED ON SECOND PLAY THROUGH!! Also, lol Eikoku Tantei Mysteria translates to Great Britain Detective Mysteria, whatever that means. ( ≖ヮ≖)
I’ll introduce the game then since a (quick google search) turned up no reviews. The intro on the actual website seems pretty useless into the actual plot so… In 19th century London, Emily Whitely an Earl’s daughter, is about to have her debut into society as a woman since she turned 16, and she will do so at the Queen’s party at Buckingham Palace. At the party she bumps into Watson Jr. and Holmes Jr. who appear to be in the middle of a case, and being nosy as she is, she eavesdrops on their discussion with Scotland Yard. She’s quickly discovered and brought to question, but Queen Victoria summons them and promptly tells Emily that her mother was her friend and savior. Seeing the resemblance between Emily and her late mother, Victoria gives Emily a ring, which signifies her as the Queen’s detective and enrols her into a esteemed detective school, Harlington (Idk how they’re gonna spell it so this is my own spelling). At this school Emily will learn to become a detective worthy of the Queen’s recognition and build bonds with others while setting in motion darker things at play in the shadows of the East End. That’s the general gist of the story.
